SASSA provides monthly payments to parents who care for disabled children under 18. This financial support helps families cover important expenses for their children such as medical care education and getting around. To get this grant the child must need significant help with daily activities. Starting October 2025 SASSA will raise the payment from R2310 to R2320. This is part of a R10 increase across all social grants. While it’s a modest increase it shows ongoing government support for families facing challenges. The grant remains an important way to help these families meet their basic needs. The regular payments make a real difference in supporting parents who look after disabled children. Every rand counts when caring for a child with special needs.

Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Receive the R2,310 Care Dependency Grant in 2025?
To get this grant you need to be a South African citizen or have legal papers to live here.
– The child must be yours or you must be their legal guardian.
– The grant is only for kids under 18 who live with you.
Your child must have a disability that needs full-time care. A doctor needs to check and confirm the disability. There are also rules about how much money you can earn. If you’re a single parent you can’t earn more than R223200 per year. Married couples can’t earn more than R446400 per year. These money limits don’t apply if you’re a foster parent or if you adopted the child. This grant helps families who look after disabled children. The rules make sure the money goes to families who really need help.

We may stop or pause your payments for several reasons.
– This can happen if your child turns 18 or dies. It also applies if your child moves to a state facility permanently.
– We might cut payments if you don’t collect them for three months in a row.
– Not helping with reviews or failing to give us needed documents can also stop payments.
– If we find out you weren’t honest on your application we will end the payments.
The same goes if your child’s health improves and they no longer need full-time care. You have the right to challenge our decision if we stop your payments.
