Starting in November 2025 SASSA will offer a new payment called the R560 Grant-in-Aid. This extra money will help people who take care of sick SASSA grant recipients. The payment is meant for caregivers who spend all their time looking after disabled or very ill people. You can only get this money if you already get a main SASSA grant but not the child support or SRD grants. You will need a doctor to check the sick person and confirm they need full-time care. The goal is to give financial support to caregivers who help people that cannot take care of themselves. This grant will make life easier for those who dedicate their time to caring for others who are too sick to live alone.
