Social grant recipients in South Africa will get a basic R10 increase in November 2025. The government has made it clear that there won’t be any extra bonus payments. Some people thought they would get big one-time payments but this is not true. The standard increase will apply to all types of social grants. The government wants everyone to know that only the normal yearly increase will happen. This means seniors should not expect any special bonuses on top of their usual grant money.
Why Did SASSA Add Only R10 Increase?
Starting in April SASSA will add R10 to several main grants. This includes payments for elderly people, disabled persons, care needs and war veterans. The increase is not big but follows the normal way the government updates grant amounts. You don’t need to do anything to get the higher amount. SASSA will update your payment on their own. The new amount will show up in your next payment without any extra steps or paperwork needed.
– People aged 60 to 74 will now get R3,230 instead of R2,180.
– Those who are 75 years and older will receive R3250 up from R2,200.
– People with disabilities & those needing care will get R3,230 instead of R2,180.
– Foster parents will receive R1230 for each child instead of R1,180.
– The child support payment has gone up from R530 to R550.
Who Qualifies for the R10 SASSA Increase?
SASSA gives bonus payments only to their existing grant recipients. To qualify you must be 60 years or older & be a legal resident of South Africa. Your income and assets need to stay below certain limits. The extra money is strictly for people who already receive SASSA grants. New applicants cannot get this bonus payment. The rules make it very clear who is eligible for this extra money.
Official SASSA November 2025 Payment Schedule
– The Older Persons Grant will be paid on November 3.
– People who get the Disability Grant can collect their money on November 6.
– Parents and caregivers should get their Children’s Grants and other dependent payments on November 7.
– If you had any payment issues from past months you can expect your backlog payment on November 13.
– For those who filed appeals or had delays the money should be ready by November 15.
– Remember these dates might change a bit but SASSA will let everyone know if that happens. It’s best to check your local SASSA office or their website to make sure of the exact date for your grant.
